I've been trawling through hours and hours of amazing footage shot at early 2003 anti-War On Iraq protests in Sydney. Again and again it smacks me in the face that all of the protesters, including the tens of thousands of Australian school students who marched against the war, knew more about the quality of WMD intelligence, and the aftermath of the invasion, than all of our leaders.
As I head into the final weeks of work on the FTW (Fuck The War) movie, the loudest theme of all is The Protesters Were 100% Right, they knew the truth back then, even under the constant mental bombardment of pr-war lies screaming from every front page, and every news bulletin.
Another FTW teaser :
Coming to DVD and digital download late October.
There will also be a free version of FTW for the torrent sites.
More teasers to come, including some of the anti-War On Iraq footage

FTW : F..k The War

By Darryl Mason
It's been a bit quiet around here for the past few weeks or so because I've been finishing off a movie. It's a documentary/hostage thriller set during the Sydney Student Protests against the Iraq War in early 2003.
The basic plot : The prime minister is giving a speech at Sydney's Town Hall after the start of the War On Iraq. An anti-war protest outside turns violent, and during a scuffle the prime minister is separated from his security. One of the protesters manages to kidnap the prime minister. He lashes him to a chair in the cellar of an empty house and interrogates him over the deceptions and lies that led Australia into the War On Iraq.
The movie is called FTW, or :

'F..k The War' stars Dave Gleeson, lead singer with the legendary Australian rock band The Screaming Jets. Gleeson ripped into the role of hostage taker like a professional, found plenty of laughs where there would have been none without him, and generally pulled the gold from a way too long script and made it shine.
The movie will also include extraordinary documentary footage shot at the massive student protests in Sydney, before the start of the Iraq War, when school kids opened up about their fears of the war to come. They were closer to the truth than anyone in the White House, or Whitehall.
I'll get some longer clips up on YouTube soon. But here's a first taste :
'F..k The War' will be out on DVD and digital download in late October. At least one version of the documentary will go up for free on torrent sharing sites.
But if it sells 500 copies, F..k The War will be one of the few Australian movies of 2010 to turn a profit.
If it sells a few thousand copies, we get started on another movie.
More soon.

Republicans Finally Outdo Nazis For War Propaganda
The 'Ground Zero Mosque' is actually one floor of an office tower, blocks away from the still empty World Trade Centre site, and the Republicans know it. But this is a religious war, after all.
Note that the ad clearly states that the entire Muslim population of the world declared war on the United States on 9/11. What religious lobby groups in the United States really believe that, and benefit most from spreading such outlandish, gruesome lies?
Despite everything else, they used the image of a man falling to his death from the towers. That crosses lines that even the Taliban would think it unethical and tasteless to breach.
The people who put this ad together are your enemies, they aim to sew fear, division, violence, not the quiet Muslim family down the street. They're more American than these fucking Republican scumbags.

This is as close to a video of an actual nightmare as I've ever seen.

Chris Cunningham's Rubber Johnny :
What Chris Cunningham has been working on lately :
"I've been living next to the railway line for 12 years and I've become obsessed with the harmonics of the trains on the lines.
"For years, I've been going down to the tracks at night to record the trains. It's just about finding sounds, really...."
