THE ONE WORLD VISION OF TONY BLAIR

"GLOBAL CULTURE BASED ON GLOBAL VALUES"

You are going to hear a lot about 'Global Culture', 'Global Values' and 'One World' in the next few years. It's going to be yet another of your new realities.

'One World' is part of the 2008 China Olympic's global unity mantra : 'One World One Dream'. The phrase and its imagery will be all over the Olympics, watched by billions of people, for two solid weeks in 2008.

'Global Culture' and 'Global Values', on the other hand, are being enthusiastically pumped by British prime minister Tony Blair, in the dying days of his leadership.

'One World' and 'Global Culture' used to be openly called 'The New World Order'.

This was the theme espoused by both Hitler and US President George HW Bush, along with Henry Kissinger and numerous big names in industry and finance over the decades.

The short version of the political NWO was of uniting entire continents under global laws and treaties, with the intention of levelling the playing field for all, whilst bringing peace and prosperity. So they said.

But that name carries bad vibes after too many conspiracy-laden books and movies claiming the NWO is a satanic Illuminati movement to enslave the world.

Bettern then to re-brand the whole thing and start over.

The terms 'one world' and 'global culture' sound far more user-friendly.

If you believe in conservative, right-wing conspiracies, you should take note that enviromental conservation and global warming are actually United Nations conspiracies to lock up vast areas of the planet from future development and also introduce a 'one world' currency based on carbon trading credits and/or a Global Tax.

Or something like that.

Meanwhile, the idea of uniting the world into a global community, beyond the internet, is certainly being marketed strongly, outside of China's Olympics and Tony Blair's speeches.

Presumably in the coming years, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will spread far enough, and grow shocking enough, for the 'Global Culture' concept to take hold as a way to end all wars, maintain the peace, feed the poor and provide health care for all. And stop global warming at the same time.

Tony Blair managed to fill an audience of Arab university with shocked faces and laughter
when he outlined his admirably fantasyland vision for Global Culture and Global Values, which he ensures will bring peace and stability to the entire world, you know, eventually :
"The single most important thing today, particularly at this moment when there is so much danger and conflict, is to create that global culture, based on global values.

"Alongside all the difficult issues in this region and elsewhere, that task to create a global culture based on global values is the single most important challenge for our generation."

The Chinese translation of the 'One World One Dream' idea is very interesting :
It highlights the theme of "the whole Mankind lives in the same world and seeks for the same dream and ideal".

In spite of the differences in colors, languages and races...together we seek the ideal of Mankind for peace. We belong to the same world and we share the same aspirations and dreams.
The Chinese word for "the same" is used instead of "one". So you get 'The Same World, The Same Dream'...which loses a bit of the dreamy magic of 'One World One Dream.'

'The Same World, The Same Dream' doesn't sound like any of us might have a say in what kind of world that constitutes. The same as Communist China?

The propaganda sure makes it sound like a wonderful place.
It is our belief that peace and progress, harmonious development, living in amity, cooperation and mutual benefit, and enjoying a happy life are the common ideals of the people throughout the world.

So is it just about the Olympics, or is China's choice of 'One World One Dream' a billboarding way of announcing their near global economic dominance?

Probably a bit of the former, and lots of the latter.
