OLIVER STONE CONSIDERING MOVIE ABOUT 9/11 WHITE HOUSE "CONSPIRACY"

By Darryl Mason

Oliver Stone has revealed he is considering making a second movie about the events of 9/11 : the "Conspiracy" one that millions of 9/11 Truth-ers were disappointed he didn't make with 'World Trade Center'.

The 'World Trade Center' movie, released in the US a few weeks ago, gave Stone the best opening weekend he's ever had at the box office, and this patriotic flick about the rescue of firefighters trapped in the ruins of Ground Zero scored mostly positive-to-praising reviews.

Most of the complaints about the 'World Trade Center' movie came from the '9/11 Truth' crowd, who have been widely branded as "conspiracy theorists".

This doesn't bother the hardcore 9/11 Truthers. They believe there is a massive conspiracy about 9/11. But they believe the official story as told in the 9/11 Commission Report is part of the conspiracy to cover up who was ultimately responsible for one of the worst terrorist attacks in history. At least good number of them appear to believe this.

And that's why they call the 9/11 Commission Report the '9/11 Whitewash'.

The '9/11 Truth' crowd now unofficially numbers in the millions in America, and probably tens of millions of people around the world....

Correction : if you take in the Muslim world then it's probably HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of people.

A recent poll concluded that some 45% of Americans "blame Bush" for the 9/11 attacks, though it didn't detail exactly how or why they think Bush was to blame.

But then, the same poll revealed that more than 40% also blame the previous president, Bill Clinton, for what happened on 9/11.

The poll didn't bother to ask how many Americans actually blame Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden for the attacks.

It's interesting to note that in choosing the story of the rescue of two trapped firefighters for his first 9/11 movie, Stone managed to stay well clear of the events or issues that the '9/11 Truth' movement continue to challenge and debate, in an ever growing media spotlight.

While there are many bizarre and clearly deranged conspiracy theories kicking around about 9/11 - that holographic images of planes were projected into the bright morning sky of New York City and that no plane actually hit the Pentagon - the more prominent 9/11 Truthers have settled around a few key claims that are clearly winning them new followers.

Or "new believers" as one site called the recently "enlightened'.

The most prominent conspiracy theory the 9/11 Truthers have focused on is that WTC 1 & 2 were brought down in a controlled demolition. The keys to this theory, they claim, is that the WTC 7 building collapsed late in the afternoon of 9/11, without being struck by a plane.

They conclude that the fires and damage sustained by WTC 7 was not enough to cause the building to collapse, thus someone had planted explosives inside the office block before 9/11.

The 9/11 Truthers then don't see it as being too much of a stretch that WTC 1 & 2 had also been pre-set with explosives as well.

The mainstream US media clearly understands there is a growing audience for stories on the 9/11 Truth movement, with most of the major networks and literally dozens of major city newspapers running stories on the conspiracy theories the "true believers' hold dear in recent days.

Most media tried to debunk the conspiracy theories, but the stories also discussed the "controlled demolition" claims at length and how the movement began and why it continues to grow.

The mainstream media more than likely chose to do these stories because they wanted new 9/11 story angles, and reporters' e-mail inboxes are regularly filled with people sending them stories and links about the various conspiracies. Journos didn't exactly have to do a lot of work, outside of surfing the net, to pull together a lengthy piece of '9/11 Truth'.

There's also a journalist sniff test involved : if even only a few of the conspiracy theories were eventually proven to be true, it would be a massive story. The kind of story that brings down governments.

And there's no shortage of journalists in the US who want to do a controlled demolition on the Bush White House.

For those who are infuriated and disgusted by any major public discussions about 9/11 'alternate theories' (as some mainstream media have now branded the version of events proposed by 9/11 Truthers), the next few years are going to be a very, very long haul indeed.

Even if Stone started working on a script for his new 9/11 movie tomorrow, it is unlikely to hit cinema screens in less than two years. You don't have to be psychic (or a movie producer) to guess that Stone would want to have his "Blame Bush" movie ready as a farewell gift to the president as he leaves the White House in early 2009.

That means, there will be ongoing discussions about what Stone will or will not include in his film, and consistent recycling of the 9/11 Truthers and their theories and the spread (of collapse) of the movement by the mainstream media, as the release date for the (possible) new Oliver Stone movie draws closer.

And as for the internet, well...

.Even the 9/11 Truthers might get sick to death of hearing about all of this.

---------------------

However, Oliver Stone doesn't sound like he's planning to make the movie the 9/11 Truthers would like to help confirm their alternate views of recent history.

Those who want to see an Oliver Stone movie where Dick Cheney sneaks into the World Trade Centre - after dark in early September, 2001 - to plant "cutter" chargers on the upper floors of the World Trade Centre towers, or some mini-nukes in the basements, may again be disappointed by the movie Stone chooses to make.

If he then even makes the movie at all.

From the very little he's said thus far, any new Stone 9/11 flick is probably going to be more like his excellent 'Nixon' movie (starring Anthony Hopkins), than a full-blown 'JFK' examination of all the major conspiracy claims.

In the past, Oliver Stone has made movies about the corruption of incredible power (Nixon, Wall Street) and the horrors of war (Born On The Fourth Of July, Platoon).

His 9/11 Movie #2 would give him the opportunity to combine both theme streams into one film. From the White House pre-9/11, to the urban carnage of Afghanistan and Iraq post-9/11.

My wild and mostly uninformed prediction would be that Stone is thinking of a movie more about the power storm of the Bush White House and how it results in young Americans going to die in Iraq, than a film that would dip into a murky world of Mossad freelancers running 'false flag' missions for Cheney, while posing as Israeli art students.

This is Oliver Stone thinking out loud at a Moscow press conference :

"There is a great story in a movie, a conspiracy by a group of people in the American administration who have an agenda and who used 9/11 to further that agenda....(There could be) a fascinating project [on] what happened after Sept. 11..."
Stone is clearly thinking about a post-9/11 movie : a movie that would presumably include flashbacks to all the warnings the White House received from various intelligence outfits about the coming terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington.

If the poll published on CNN is correct, then Stone could have a potential audience of more than 100 million Americans for his 9/11 : Blame The Bush Conspiracy Movie (BTBCM).

But with that kind of audience, Stone wouldn't even need a studio to finance it.

He could spend $50 million on 9/11 : BTBCM, release it on the internet for $2 a viewing and then pump out a ten hour director's cut deluxe box set on DVD and still turn a fat profit.

And if Stone goes ahead with this, you just know there will be two or three others bursting into production soon after.

More to come...
